Girls Varsity Tennis vs. Plymouth Regional HS School

Senior Night for the Girls Tennis Team started with a flower ceremony. Flowers were provided for the 5 seniors on the Plymouth team. After they were recognized, roses were presented to Kingswood senior co-captains Jasper Shapiro and Brooke Seigars. These seniors then presented the roses to their mothers.

The doubleheader started with a continuation of a match suspended due to rain at Plymouth on Apri 19th. It started with Kingswood leading 3 to 1.

#1 Jasper Shapiro had already won 8-5

#2 Kara Phu had already won 8-5.

#3 Marina Eneeva had already won 8-6.

#4 Brooke Seigars had already lost 5-8.

#5 Danielle Schillereff continued from being down 2-6 and lost 4-8

#6 Rebecca Coache continued from being down 1-2 and won 8-6.

Up 4 to 2 after singles, Kingswood just needed one win in doubles. #1 doubles Shapiro and Seigars continued from 0-1 and lost 4-8

#2 doubles Phu and Eneeva won 8-4 to give Kingswood the win at 5-3.

#3 doubles Schillereff and Coache were up 4-3 when the match was decided. The match was called to ensure enough time to decide the second match.

Except for #4 Brooke Seigars and #6 Danielle Schillereff, everyone had the same opponents.

#1 Shapiro won 8-3

#2 Phu lost 7-9

#3 Eneeva won 8-6

#4 Seigars came back from being down 2-7 and won 9-8 with a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker

#5 Coache lost 6-8

#6 Schillereff won 8-5

Again the team had a 4 to 2 lead after singles and just needed 1 doubles win.

The #1 and #2 doubles also had the same opponents as in the first match.

#1 doubles Shapiro and Seigars lost 5-8

#2 doubles Phu and Eneeva lost 1-8

#3 doubles Coache and Schillereff lost 3-8.

Kingswood lost the second match 4-5.

The team ends its regular season even at 7 and 7.

In a week the team will find out if this record is good enough to make it into the post season team tournament. Only the top 8 teams qualify.

For singles, the Jasper Shapiro qualifies to enter the individual state singles tournament with her record of 8 and 5. At #2 Kara Phu ended even at 7 and 7. Eneeva was 10 and 2. Seigars finished 8 and 6. Coache finished 8 and 5. Schillereff ended 7 and 6.

For doubles, the #1 team did not have a winning record and therefore, cannot enter the state doubles tournament. #1 Shapiro and Seigars ended 4 and 8. #2 Phu and Eneeva ended 7 and 3. #3 doubles of Schillereff and Coache ended even at 3 and 3.

The team is hosting a clinic for 8th grade tennis players today at Foss Field.
