The last game of the Knights Girls Soccer season was a match up between the first place Bow Falcons and the second to last place Kingswood Knights. We knew we had a tough game to play.
The scoring started early with a Falcon cross converted on the right side of the Knight's goal. The next Bow goal was a knuckle ball from 10 yards. The next goal reflected off the inside of the post. The fourth hit the left side from 10 yards out. The wet conditions made the ball slippery. Their fifth goal was a shot that slipped through the hands of Mary Peternel, the Knights keeper. Their next goal went over the keeper's head. Bow was able to dribble inside the 6 for a 1 on 1 for their 7th goal. Their 8th goal was a volley. Bow's last goal was a shot from inside the 18. Kingswood lost 9-0.
The season ended for the Knights with a 2-14 record. This year the Knights moved up from Division 3 to Division 2 this year. The competition proved more intense. The Lady Knights improved considerably in conditioning, technique, and tactics from August to October. Much was learned.
The team competed in a pre-season jamboree in August. The team traveled to USM Gorham to experience a women's college soccer game. The seniors ran a clinic for the 6th grade Crescent Lake School girls. The team is currently working on improving the school's soccer kickboard. Home Depot outlets in Rochester and Portsmouth are donating the materials.
The end of the season awards banquet will take place in November.
