The Girls Varsity and JV Soccer Teams will have their first regular season match Friday, August 26th at Coe Brown in Northwood.  Please arrive at Alumni Field by 1:45 p.m. for a 2 p.m. departure to Coe Brown.  The varsity plays at 4 p.m. and the JV plays at 5:30 p.m.

      On Monday, August 29th, we switch to afternoon practice, 3 - 5 p.m.
     On Tuesday, August 30th, JV will have a practice from 3 - 5 p.m.   The JV players who can stay for the varsity game should go directly to the turf field at 5 p.m.  A box dinner would be a good idea.   At 6 p.m. the varsity will host Kennett on the turf.

     On Wednesday, August 31st, the varsity will have practice from 3 - 5 p.m.   The JV will be traveling to Kennett.  The website (kingswoodhsathletics.org) has the game time listed as 6 p.m.   I am going to double check this since it seems late.  If this is correct, the JV should be ready to go at 3:45 p.m.

      On Thursday, September 1st, both JV and Varsity have practice from 3 - 5 p.m.

      On Friday, September 2nd, the last morning practice of the season will take place from 7:45 a.m. until 10 a.m.

      There are no practices or games over the Labor Day Weekend. 

      On Tuesday, September 6th, the first day of school, the varsity only will have a road trip to Plymouth.  The JV will have a practice from 2:45 - 4:45 p.m.

      On Wednesday, September 7th, the varsity will have an afternoon practice.  The JV will be dismissed early from school for a road trip to Plymouth.

      After the school year begins, the regular practice schedule will be from 2:45 - 4:45 p.m.  There may be some exceptions with later practices for the varsity.  These will be announced via this group e-mail and the team website

There is a girls soccer team dinner in the works for this Wednesday's home game against Portsmouth. JV plays at 4pm, Varsity at 5:30. We will serve each team after their game. If anyone is willing to help with set up and clean up, that would be appreciated.

The Girls Soccer Teams (Varsity, JV, and Middle School) traveled to the University of Southern Maine at Gorham yesterday to watch the home team defeat Salem State 2-1.   Kingswood alumni Molly Sawyer and Emily Saunders joined the Knights at their school's home game.  This is the fifth year of an annual trip to see soccer played at the next level. 

Parents of all Kingswood Girls Soccer Players should plan to attend a parent meeting at 4:15 p.m. at the grass soccer field on Monday, September 12th.   We will make sure you are getting e-mail, make sure you are checking the website kingswoodhsathletics.org, talk about the loyalty card fundraiser, go over the transportation policy, discuss the uniform policy,  look for volunteers to make snack bags for away matches, and see if there is interest in reopening the soccer online store.

The Kingswood Girls Soccer Team had several scoring opportunities but only finished on one goal in their 3 to 1 loss to Kennett Tuesday evening on Alumni Field.  At the halftime the score was 1-0.  The first half Kennett goal was off a corner kick.  At the 60 minute mark with just 20 minutes left, Kennett scored an insurance goal converting a deflection in the box.  Their third goal was scored off of a direct kick.  Kingswood freshman forward Sarah Peternel scored off a direct kick 30 yards out late in the game to save the Knights from a shutout.  The team will travel to Plymouth on Tuesday.

The practice and game schedule the week of August 29th:

Monday, August 29th:     JV and Varsity Practice from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Tuesday, August 30th:     JV Practice from 3 - 5 p.m.

                                         Varsity and Varsity Reserve:  Arrive in uniform at the turf field ready to play at 5 p.m.   The Varsity only home game against Kennett is on the turf at 6 p.m.  Ashley and Kyra are the JV players assigned to be ball runners for this varsity game.  (All JV will have assigned turns for varsity games and all varsity players will be assigned turns at JV home games)

Wednesday, August 31st:   Varsity Practice from 3 -5 p.m.

                                            JV and Varsity Reserve:  Be ready for a 3:30 p.m. bus
                                            to  Kennett for a JV only game at 6 p.m.

Tomorrow, Friday, August 26th, is our season opener.  We are hoping that parents can make the trip to Coe-Brown.

JV and Varsity Players should be at Alumni Field by 1:45 p.m.   We are on the road at 2 p.m.   (there is no morning practice due to the game).

Players should remember plenty of water and sunscreen.  It is forecast to be hot and humid.   Players should also pack a brown bag dinner.  There will be no fast food stops.

The varsity plays at 4 pm.  The JV plays at 5:30 p.m.   We should be back to Kingswood by 8 p.m.   We will know the exact time we arrive back to Kingswood when we leave Coe-Brown in Northwood.  Athletes can call parents at that time.  Parents, please do not make your daughters wait to be picked up from Kingswood.

During the season, whenever we drive past the Alton Circle, it will be possible to pick your daughter up there.  Here are the rules:   Write a note for the bus driver giving permission for your daughter to be picked up there.   If the bus arrives at the Alton Circle store and the parent is not there, the bus will continue with that athlete up to Kingswood.  You must arrive at the store before the bus.    For trips to the north, the bus can stop at the Hannaford parking lot (the Job Lots side).  The same rules are in effect.

Girls soccer will have practice tomorrow, Thursday, July 7th from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.   Meet at the Crescent Lake School Soccer Field.  Bring plenty of water.  Bring cleats and sneakers.  Bring your own soccer ball if you have one.  An email will be sent before each of our summer Tuesday and Thursday practices. Weather or other circumstances may cancel one or two of these.

This is a reminder that we will be having the team pictures that you can buy and individual pictures tomorrow, Monday, August 22nd, at practice.  We agreed Friday to wear the white home uniforms.

The envelopes with your (optional) order should be given directly to the photographer, Kathy Sutherland.  Placing an order is optional but we want everyone in the team photo.

See you in the morning.  We practice Monday through Thursday from 745 a.m. until 10 a.m.  This is the last week of morning practices.   Friday we have away games at Coe-Brown.  We will leave Kingswood at 2 pm on that day.

Girls Soccer Players and Parents:

Here are a few reminders about the next few days, Thursday August 18th through Saturday, August 20th.

The baseline concussion testing originally scheduled for Thursday, August 18th will now be Friday, August 19th from 8 a.m. until it is completed.  It usually takes about 45 minutes.  All 9th graders, all 11th graders and anyone who has not had it done in the last 2 years must attend.  Meet where we always meet by Alumni Field at 7:45 a.m.

We are hoping to announce the varsity team and the junior varsity team on Thursday.  This year we will have a Varsity Reserve.  These players will be considered varsity and will be issued varsity uniforms.  These players will play with the junior varsity (wearing their varsity uniforms) to get more experience and playing time.  When needed, they will be called to play with the varsity.   All varsity reserve players will be playing with the varsity this Saturday at the Jamboree in Bedford.  Junior Varsity members will not be playing on Saturday.

The Media Day starts sharply at 5 pm. in the Kingswood gym. Athletes will first meet in the gym with the athletic director.  Next go to Room 178 across from the practice gym for uniform issue.  We then proceed to the gym for the media interviews and the team photos.  We should be finished around 7 p.m.

Here are some reminders for day 2 and beyond:
 

Each day:  Bring your own water.  Always pack sunscreen.  Shinguards, cleats, and your mouthguard should be in your bag for every practice and game.

Do not wear jewelry at practice.  It is not allowed during games.  Practices get us ready for the games.

Our trainer, Alex Dria, will be performing the mandatory baseline  concussion testing for all athletes in grades 9 and 11 and anyone who has not had a baseline test.  We have reserved Thursday morning from 8 until 8:45 a.m. for this testing.

Each day this week the tryouts and practices are held from 745 a.m until 10 a.m.  We meet by the concession stand at Alumni Field.  We are hoping to announce the varsity team on Thursday.

Reserve Friday evening for the Media Day.  This starts at 5 p.m. and runs until we are finished with uniform issue and team photographs (around 7 p.m.).

The Varsity Team will be competing on Saturday at a jamboree at Bedford High School.  Meet at noon behind the Arts Center for the bus.  The games are at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.  The bus will return to Kingswood around 9:30 pm.

As scheduled, girls soccer tryouts begin Monday morning August 15th .  Meet at Alumni Field at 7:45 a.m. Tryouts are on the High School Soccer Field.

Girls Soccer will have two more summer practices before the high school players start their tryouts.  There will be Summer Soccer Practices on Tuesday August 9th and Thursday August 11th.  These will be an hour later than the previous practices.  Meet at the Crescent Lake School field at 9 a.m. and plan to stay until 11 a.m.  Bring your own soccer balls if you have them.

Middle School Players:  After August 11th, you will have to work out on your own until the second day of school, Wednesday, September 7th.  The girls middle school team will have its first practice on this day.  I will update the website and send another email if this date changes.

High School Players:  Tryouts are Monday, August 15th, Tuesday, August 16th, and Wednesday, August 17th from 7:45 a.m. until 10 a.m.   I will send an email and update the website with the location of the tryouts.  We continue practices that week on Thursday and Friday during the same time frame. 

High School Players:  Uniforms will be issued and team photos taken on Media Day, Friday, August 19th.  This starts at 5 p.m.   Meet in Room 178 in the high school, the room across from the practice gym.  We will hopefully get early media interviews and photo sessions because we have to get up extra early on Saturday.  The bus leaves to the soccer jamboree at Bedford High School at 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 20th.

The Girls Soccer Teams will have the ninth practice of the summer Thursday, August 4th from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Crescent Lake School field.

The Kingswood Girls Soccer Teams will have its 8th summer soccer practice as scheduled, Tuesday, August 2nd at the Crescent Lake School Field from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.  The rain is scheduled to end before practice time.  Bring shinguards and mouth guards.  You need to get used to using them while playing.  Wear your soccer cleats for the entire practice.

The Girls Soccer Teams will have summer practice #7  on Thursday, July 28th, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Crescent Lake School Field.   Bring water and sunscreen.  Bring sneakers and cleats.  Bring shinguards and mouthguards if you have them.

The Girls Soccer Team will have its 6th summer practice on Tuesday morning  July 26th from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Crescent Lake School Field.

The girls soccer summer practice #5 on Thursday, July 21st is on.  It will be at the Crescent Lake School field from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m..

If you have a mouth guard and shin guards, bring them and use them.  During the regular season these will be required.  The sooner you get used to playing with them, the better.

Also bring sneakers as well as cleats.  We do conditioning runs at some of these practices.

There will be girls soccer practice at the Crescent Lake School Field from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19th.   See you there.

Our 3rd optional summer practice is on.  We will practice from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Crescent Lake School field on Thursday, July 14th.

Bring sun screen and your own drinking water.   If you have shinguards and a mouth guard, bring that too.     By August shinguards and mouth guards will be required.   In July we are keeping contact to a minimum.  We are working on conditioning and basic skills.

Always bring both soccer cleats and sneakers for running.  When the weather cools we will start doing some longer distance runs.
