The Kingswood Girls' Varsity Soccer Team fought hard and did not give up but lost to the Clippers of Portsmouth 7-0 Wednesday, September 28th at Alumni Field at Kingswood. Kingswood Keeper Sarah Harrigan was able to make 23 saves. The Knights held the Clippers scoreless for the first 14 minutes. Then a low farside shot hit off the post and went in. At 19 minutes the referee called a hand ball on the Kingswood keeper. He claimed she left the box as she was kicking it out after a save. This direct kick penalty resulted in the second Portsmouth goal. The Clippers scored once more in the first half with a shot from about 12 yards out at 25 minutes. Five minutes into the second half the Clippers made it 4-0. At 17 minutes the knuckle shot went over the keeper's head. At 25 minutes the shot was tipped by the keeper's hands but still found the back of the net. The final goal of the game was a knuckle ball dropping just over Harrigan's head. Next week the team faces Kennett, a school that lost to Portsmouth by the exact same score.
