The Kingswood Girls Soccer Team played 6 varsity members short in their bid against Oyster River Friday night at Alumni Field. The weather was cool and sometimes threatening rain and sometimes drizzling rain. A combination of church commitments, other family commitments, and injury gave four junior varsity players the opportunity to be promoted to the Knights' Varsity squad. This came on a game night playing a team with a 6 and 1 record.
The Bobcats starting the scoring at 6 minutes when a low shot from inside the 6 found the back of the net. At 15 minutes the score was a near side shot. Just one minute later a Kingswood foul gave Oyster River a penalty kick score. The scoring for the half ended at the 18 minute mark with a knuckle ball dropping over the Kingswood keeper's outreached arms.
Five minutes into the second half the Bobcats resumed their attack with the fifth goal. At 11 minutes they scored from a shot to the left side. At 14 minutes Oyster River penetrated the Knight defense dribbling in close to the goal before scoring. The scoring ended at 15 minutes into the second half with a 20 yard shot.
Knight Keeper Sarah Harrigan had another busy game making 26 saves.
Promoted to the varsity from the junior varsity were Kasey Kelliher, Caitlyn Murray, Alyssa Bolstridge, and Alahna Teves.
The team travels to Farmington High School on Monday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. game.
