The Girls Ice Hockey Team got a 9-1 win over Conval in their home season opener with Claire Richard and Kara Luby both getting hat tricks in the game.
Richard scored the first goal five minutes and thirty seconds into the first period, unassited. Kingswood kept taking shots but couldn’t put the puck in. A goal by Conval with just two and a half minutes left in the period tied up the game, where it stayed for the rest of the period.
A shot by Jullian Luby, unassited found the back of the net around two minutes into the second period. Kingswood kept putting on the pressure, with Richard getting another with an assist by Kara Luby. Kara Luby found the back of the net with an assist from Ali House. Conval had no answer and the period ended 5-1, with Conval losing their goalie to injury.
Kara Luby started the scoring in the third, with assist from Breanne Leblanc and Richard. Richard scored with an assist from Kara Luby. Three minutes later Jillian Luby scored unassisted. Conval came down with a breakaway, but goaltender Nikki Cayon stopped it easily. Kara Luby scored the last goal of the game with an assist from Savannah Thomas. Freshman goalie Katherine Lessard got put in at the end of the third, introducing her to high school play.
